This journey didn’t start overnight. Over the years, as a professional working in the legal field in areas like family law, personal injury, workers’ compensation, and civil litigation, I’ve seen the toll that court battles can take. I’ve seen people spend thousands of dollars, years of their lives, and endless emotional energy fighting legal battles when a better way was possible.

My passion for mediation grew during international conferences where I met inspiring mediators and attorneys from around the world. In countries like those in Europe, mediation is often the first step before anyone even thinks about litigation. And it has been working for decades.

Why? Because mediation helps people see each other. Hear each other. Understand what’s really going on beneath the surface of a legal claim or emotional argument. Sometimes, people are just too overwhelmed by anger, sadness, or hurt to see beyond their own pain. A good mediator doesn’t take sides—they create space for clarity and solutions.

Let me be honest: being a mediator is not easy. You have to stay neutral, even if your heart leans toward one side. You cannot judge. You cannot advise. You guide. You hold the process. And when it works, when people reach their own agreement, it’s powerful.

In America, mediation is gaining ground. More judges refer cases to mediation, especially when there are only a handful of issues to resolve. But still, I see so many people stuck in litigation driven by anger, willing to burn through everything just to “win.” But what’s the real cost?
